our Counselors

Randi Putnam - AM Cohort

Mrs. Putnam

I graduated from Hurricane High School which is located in a small rural town in Southern Utah. From there I began my educational journey at Dixie State University where I received an Associate of Arts. After DSU I moved to Cedar City and attended Southern Utah University where I received my Bachelor’s degree. I really enjoyed Psychology classes and decided to major in Psychology and minor in Criminal Justice. After graduating I was offered a job at a Wilderness Therapy Program where I worked with troubled youth while backpacking in the Utah desert. While it was a very difficult job, it was also very rewarding and I learned many valuable skills. A year later I was accepted into a Master’s program at the University of Utah for Educational Psychology. There I studied to become a School Counselor. I met my husband after my many adventures and we now have a beautiful daughter. I love the outdoors and activities such as camping, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, fishing, 4-wheeling or just spending time with my family. I love challenging myself and have run a half marathon and completed the Spartan Beast race.

Darci Wilks - PM Cohort

Mrs. Wilks

I grew up in a tiny town a short drive north of Cedar City called Minersville. I attended Beaver High School and graduated from BHS in 2006. I then went on to Snow College to get my Associate of Science Degree in December of 2007. I then decided to attend SUU in 2008, without knowing what I would major in and what career I wanted to pursue. I started taking more random classes and fell in love with Psychology. I also fell in love with Criminal Justice. From my experience in those courses, I chose to major in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. However, I still didn't know what career I was going for with that degree. I received a job offer to work at Iron Springs Elementary School here in Cedar. I was first hired as a Special Education Aide. I loved my time working in Special Ed, but there was another job at the school that peaked my interest while there...the Skill Building Coach! I was able to get that job at ISE and loved it even more than aiding. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2010. During that time, I researched and decided that School Counseling was the career for me! It combined many aspects that interested me in Education, Psychology, and Criminal Justice. That meant that I would need to go on to get my Master of School Counseling degree. I was accepted into the University of Phoenix's Master's of School Counseling program in 2012. I am just about to finish the internship portion of my program and receive my Master’s degree! I am so excited to be able to get to know all of you and strive to help you as much as possible!

I met my awesome husband while here in Cedar City (through Facebook!) and we have been married for 2 and 1/2 years. I had our first baby, a boy (Deklen) in November. It was so exciting to welcome him into our family! I enjoy anything active, including but not limited to: basketball, volleyball, hiking, and biking. I also enjoy a lot of relaxing things like: camping, fishing, reading, and writing.
